We are dog lovers and we let Kabic and Tormenta sleep in our room with us, that is they sleep on the floor. Kabic is a pure white Kishu, a Japanese breed and he’s an amazing 13 years old. Tormenta is a Cattle/Australian Cattledog Mix and she is a very active 3 years old. Usually in the morning as we all start to wake up the dogs will make their way outside to take care of business, then they come back in, lay down, and in Kabic’s case, Go Back to Sleep. This morning however when Kabic came back to lay down he was not interested in sleeping and he was making a funny whimpering sound. It was kind of dark in the room and I could see that he was acting strange, but I did not know why. I looked closer and come to find out he had a little Good Morning surprise for us—A Bird! We just had to laugh and then kindly ask Kabic to go outside and set the poor little DEAD bird down. So with a little guidance he did so.
By looking at Kabic you would never know that he was 13 years old as he looks great! He’s not as fast as he used to be but he still has the hunter instinct. Two years ago while camping during the Baja 500 we were all just sitting and talking and Kabic was sleeping after a long day of running, hunting, bird chacing… and then all of a sudden Whoooosh, in two leaps and a pounce he had a Kangaroo Rat in his mouth! He tossed it around and flipped it over and over until he was board with it, then he went back to sleep. From then on he eared the name “White Ninja Dog”.
Kabic is kind of a strange dog. He loves to be petted, but only on his terms. Not that he gets angry, he just ignores you. When he see’s us he gets very excited, but he’s never been the jumpy, licking, and crazy kind of Dog (Like Tormenta). He’ll come up to you, sniff ya, wag his curly tail and then go back to what ever he was doing, which these days is sleeping.
I hope in someways I’m like kabic when I get that old…Happy to see ya, ready for action, bring home the big prize now and then, and take lots of naps.

Cool! There are two photos of Japanese dogs on your website right now!
Ya gotta post a pic of Tormenta. Haven’t had the honor of meeting her yet.
We remember Tina as well as Neo…who was an odd pooch by his own right…

By the way, the dog we had before we got Nik was a red cattle dog. Not hyper at all…unless a cat wandered by. Then all heck broke loose!

I need to put up some more shots of Kabic, still getting this Mac organized. Neo was just a totally nasty, rude, beagle. I’ll never forget him humping that kids leg during our orientation, and then the time he peed on some girls Uggs.
