As fast as that we are home, well almost, we’ll be heading out to a memorial service today in Wildomar, CA, then a night at my Moms, then we pick up our winter Intern and then we’ll be crossing the boarder. But,,,,although we are getting every so closer to home and we’re not in Ecuador does not mean we’ll stop talking about the trip. I’ll be posting two pages dedicated to the play ground build and our weekend on the coast. Right now though the time change as kicked in and the clock says 5:30 am but my brain tells me it’s 7:30 am.

This trip for us marks the beginning of something we hope to continue year after year and it was special for us for us to have been able to visit and work with the Scholl’s.  Debbie and I have a list of different things we’ve learned from them and the way the camp operates and we’ll be excited to go home and put some of it into practice, so we hope as time goes on some of you will benefit as well from those changes. Don’t worry though, when you come down Dennis and Debbie will still be Dennis and Debbie and we’ll always do what is need to make sure you have a place to hang your hat and call “Home”.

We know from experience that camp life can be very difficult as well and there were times that we counted our blessings and thanked God for that little corner of the world that he has given us to take care of. When I talk about camp life I’m not talking about camp as in “camping”, but more in the way of living in and facilitating a large camp, and mind you, there’s no Costco or Home Depot to head out to when you need something fast. But in the rush of this camp life, and as groups come and go and different ministries inter act we also saw Howard and Mary interact with in this camp culture in every way possible. Through Mary we saw that the little things go a LONG way when it comes to hospitality. Howard moved in and out and through those that work at the camp and with those that come to visit in such a way that can only make you feel warm and welcomed, but he also keeps things moving at a good pace. I’ll surely miss Howard “Good Morning” smile and the sound of that coke on the work bench.

There was also the making of new friends, meeting people from different areas of the world, and working along side those that also came to visit and make a difference. I’ll never forget my time on that roof with the guys from the camp and Rudy from South Cal. We had and awesome time working with the guys from North Carolina, and there was meeting and getting to know that crazy and very fun girl Alicia from Australia. To better see how out trip ended we encourage you to visit the two pages I’ll have posted in the next couple days. For now it’s back to packing and unpacking and soon we’ll be driving down that dirt road to our little corner of the world. So thank you Your World, thank you El Refugio, thank you to all of our new friends, and most of all a BIG Thank You to Daniel, Jonathan, Mary our Fishing Buddy Howard—-We’ll miss you all.
