This week I’ve been very impressed with the hard work that has been done by the women! It’s just been a real Blessing to see all that they have gotten done and how they have had such a good time doing it. This Monday our intern Ashley came out with the concrete team and I’ve never seen a girl work so hard at it. She toted the buckets of water into the mixer, handled the 1/2 bags of cement, shoveled sand and gravel and even wore the face shield! Needless to say though that she was an absolute mess when she got done but I think for her that it was part of the fun. I’d take Ashley on any concrete job and it’s going to be hard to see her go as we’re going to miss her hard work. Last week Ashely also worked with most of the week as we tackled a huge roofing project and she was the ONLY girl on the project! I know she gain a new love for cutting out lath for odd roofing lines but when all said and done, the gable ends got stucco’d.
The ladies from Canyon Lake Community Chruch have been working very hard as well and it’s been very inspiring to see them work so hard at getting this house done. Most of them are of senior citizen ages but this does not slow them down one bit they have been great representatives of CLCC. Teresa Milano who is around our age went after the sand pile and took on the hardest job of them all. Debbie has enjoyed this group of ladies because they all seem to clean up after themselves and we have yet to pick up a drill off of the dirt. They are a great example to Deb and I and also to the rest of their team, and I’m sure the family that they are building for will have something to say about it. Way to Go Ladies!!
Then of course there is Debbie that not only carries her wieght when it comes to work but she also packs my lunch and seems to always know where I laid down my tools that I can’t find. She drives a fully loaded extended van that has all kinds of Manly tools in it and the Baja 500 dirt roads never seem to slow her down. Then today Deb sported the rough pirate look with a cool bandanna, which was a look I’ve never seen on her. Debbie is for sure a Tuff Chick, but she also carries a smile and is ready to listen to anyone and everyone with a kind ear.
So this week as we worked with Tuff Chicks and all of the guys from our home church we realized that we were having a great time with them. Besides the work it was a blessing to just sit and talk about stuff that was on our hearts and at times doing it with an Ice Cream bar. Canyon Lake Community Church should be very proud and thankful for this small, but mighty team that it sent down!
