No we are not moving, but, well, we now have an official certified street address, yes, we finally got this done. When we first moved into the little Ex-ejido Chapultapec there was not much of anything here including no electricity, no water, and no telephone lines. Our address was simply Section 9,Parcel 11, lot 11. Then our little community came up with a name for our little area which is Vista Al Mar, kind of like being in an un-incorporated community, they call them Colonias or some other word I can’t spell out. Then there was this big community meeting (party) that we missed because we were gone for the holidays and they handed out street names and addresses and ours was Calle Isla Marias 132. It has been over a year now that I found myself sittingĀ on a concrete beam some 15 feet up off of the ground and it seemed kind of weird driving up to Javier’s place know that it was MOVING DAY! It was not like any kind of moving day that most of us go through as there was no big moving truck, there were no boxes upon boxes to move, and there was no team of people to get it done, just Debbie, Sergio and myself. We had a few things to finish up and we trimed out some of painting, hooked up the propane, and put another coating of stain on the shelves I built for him. Everything was going great and we even ahhh’d and Oooo’d when the stove lit and for the first time felt the hot water come out of his new shower. Read the rest of this entry »
This is a battle that some of my family members have been dealing with for a long time and I’ve only heard of the torment that goes on in the way of hellish fights, death threats, Read the rest of this entry »
Yea!!!!, 193,000+ miles on the Blue Ford truck! Today I was changing the oil and noticed that I was able to bounce the front end with little effort, so I needed to do a little inspecting… Come to find out the upper bushings (little hard plastic thingy’s) were totally gone, therefore making it seem like there were not shock absorbers, so I decided to take them off and inspect them, then I found out that maybe I should just buy some new shocks. So not long after I ordered them a new pair of Bilstein’s were packaged and ready to head my way. Folks,,, people, Chevy Boasters,,,That’s about 120,000 hard Baja Miles on that truck, so please no “you should have bought a Chevy”. Read the rest of this entry »
I’ve been wondering what words I could put down to express all that went on this summer and I’m kind of having problems sorting it all out and bringing home all the good memories and some of the not so good memories as those we try to learn from and move on. This year was especially difficult due to the security issues and swine flu concerns, and frankly I’m a little burned out on the whole issue, especially when you see the work that was done by those that came down. Rather than get into all of that I’ll tell you of one word that kept popping us into my widdle head that pretty much sums up what the Lord was talking to me about—”Perception”, Read the rest of this entry »
I’ve got about few thoughts in my brain in regards to our summer, but first I’d like to share our week with Bakerview Gospel Chapel who came all the way from Canada! This was our first opportunity to host a group from Canada and we had a very memorable time with them. The plan was to build the 12′x24′ addition to the structure that the group from Illinois did last summer. Antonia and her husband Tony worked hard to get everything ready to go and they were very excited to have some more room. Before the addition there were 6 people living in the 12′x20′ section and they did everything they could do to make it home, and oh yea,,,imagine what it was like with no electricity or water Read the rest of this entry »
Do you ever go to start something to fulfill a need, but then the need becomes much bigger due to unplanned circumstances, then you have no idea where to start??? Or did I just loose you? We have been involved with Casa Esperanza for many years now and over this summer some big changes came about that are going to make things a bit challenging for the next few months. We had started the boys bathrooms and I guess you could say that they feel victim to the Media-hype over the drug cartel and Swine Flu (that has no reported cases in Ensenada and only one case in all of Baja CA) and we have not been able to finish it up. Then I received and email Read the rest of this entry »
