Pasquel, Debbie and Javier

It has been over a year now that I found myself sittingĀ  on a concrete beam some 15 feet up off of the ground and it seemed kind of weird driving up to Javier’s place know that it was MOVING DAY! It was not like any kind of moving day that most of us go through as there was no big moving truck, there were no boxes upon boxes to move, and there was no team of people to get it done, just Debbie, Sergio and myself. We had a few things to finish up and we trimed out some of painting, hooked up the propane, and put another coating of stain on the shelves I built for him. Everything was going great and we even ahhh’d and Oooo’d when the stove lit and for the first time felt the hot water come out of his new shower.

As Debbie and Sergio finished up the painting I headed down the hill and bought some grilled chicken that came with all the fixings and when I returned we gathered in his old house for what was to be his last meal in this house that he has called home for many years.

Now it was time to start moving stuff and getting it all situated into his new place. Needless to say everything was a bit dusty, and some things were a bit dirty, so we did our best to get it dusted off and cleaned up. I’ll never forget Pasquel watching us and saying “watch out for the spiders”, and he was right…Many spiders to clean out from his box spring and it was un-real to see exactly what the condition was with both of their beds.

No more Cold water showers for Javier and Pasquel.

The actual move did not take that long and in some ways they will need to down size on some of their belongings, but this could be a very good thing in the long run as they have lots of STUFF, and lots of it is very dusty.

As we got stuff settled in Javier got busy reorganizing his little bed side end table and Pasquel sat down to watch a soccer game. There was the showing of how things worked, demonstrating the shower valves, ceiling fan remotes, the stove, and thinking of things that we still need to do. Javier is looking forward to people going down to his old home and looking for him and I’m sure he’ll pull some good pranks with that.

So he is in his new house and this week I’m going to do some shopping to see if I can find some new mattresses for them and we still have some surprises left up our sleeve as well…such as…

A new TV—it was shipped out today, a new wheelchair—I hope to order it very soon, shelves in his bedroom and kitchen, and I’d like to get him a DVD player so he can watch some movies on his new TV. If anyone would like to make a donation to any of the above items just use this link to do so, or contact me personally.

A big THANK YOU goes out to:

Oasis High Desert Chruch of Hisperia CA, Horizon Community Church of Galt CA, Bear Valley Community of Tehachippi CA, Fran and Don Bour (my mom and step Dad), Valley Community Church of Pleasanton CA, and Terri Estrada for getting this ball rolling. It took us a while to get him in, but he’s in and happy.

Nothing better than a Saturday afternoon, a good Soccer game on the Tele and,,,,a new home to watchi it in.
