Ahhh to be young again! Every Spring Break we all hear of them rowdy college kids that head off to other areas of the world to have their BIG party. They get crazy, wild, and most often get into trouble, and Oh how the Media eats it up. To bad there is not enough said about those students that truly try to go out into the world and make a Real Difference, they are the real hero’s of Spring Break,,,,,,Oh wait, didn’t it used to be called Easter Week? Anyway,,,for the last few years we have have the privilege of working along side Vanguard University of Costa Mesa, CA. For many years we operated more as just facilitators, but that last two years we have actually got out there and worked together hand in hand.
They come down with the hearts of service to work along side the local churches and other ministries that are here in
Ensenada by way of VBS, chores, or out at Casa Esperanza they give the Mom’s a little break. This year we worked with a small construction team, but got some BIG things accomplished. The team of 5 helped us Sheetrock the ceiling of our new dorm, plus pour some concrete and screw down the under-layment for the dorm as well. Then we headed out and poured a concrete slab for one of the up coming house projects that will be taking place in April. They all worked very hard and they are always lots of fun to work with.
We enjoy seeing how they operate and how everyone from Kitchen crew Van Drivers know exactly what to do and when to do it. Josh Harrison heads up the team and he does a great job getting everyone into their place and leading them to an from. In the years past they’ve had close to 60 students attend this week of work and service, but due to all the concerns their numbers dropped, but the enthusiasm was still there and everyone gave it their all.
For us personally it’s like have a few van loads of your own kids show up and they all so much remind us of our own
kids. We really do enjoy this relationship we have with Vanguard Univ. and we pray that it will continue on, and we consider it a privilege to be able to visit and work with such outstanding young people that have decided to take a stand for Christ. They devote their time and energy to making a difference in the world and even though they work in the shadow of a much different college type “Spring Break” they bring a very bright light to such a dark shadow at that. Parents, Teachers, Family members and friends should be very proud of the work they are doing.
Thank You Vanguard University and all you do for so many, and thank you for being a blessing in our lives as well.

Thanks guys it was a great spring break! Ensenada is “business as usual” and there is really no safety threat there. I am looking forward to coming back soon to Ensenada!
