A Saturday Morning Western

One of my routine things to do on a Saturday morning is to get up, grab a cup of Coffee and sit down and watch westerns on AMC. I love this time I have as it takes me back to a time when my Dad would do this, except it usually involved a huge baloney sandwich. I’ve seen them all from Red River to Open Range and I love them all. During the summer however it’s a bit different as sometimes this time goes towards saying goodbye to our visiting groups, leaving for an activity, or maybe a short nap, but this morning we decided to make it a bit fun.
With the interns I like to test their Movie Savvy by asking them about old classic movies and to see which ones they have and have not seen, and I’m always shocked to hear of how many old classics they have not seen—-I guess I’m an Old Classic kind of guy. So this morning I let them know that I’d be fixing breakfast and that we’d all sit down to watch “3 Godfathers”,,,no no no,,, not the Mafia Godfathers, but the Old Western with John Wayne. Ashley was pushing for “The Thing” (a horror/Sci-Fi) but she was over ruled by the contract clause in hear-by stating that “It’s Saturday Morning WESTERN”. Ashley said “Well then fine, but we are all going to ware Cowboy Hats!”, and that we did. This is a great movie and all the interns gave it a thumbs up and said they liked it.
I also got to finally use my very special and NOW OFFICIAL genuine El Paso Western Cowboy Coffee cup that Ana Christina got me!!

This movie is about 3 Cowboys that end up robbing a bank and then as they run from the Law they come upon a covered wagon that is stranded in the desert and inside the wagon is a woman that is not only dieing but is also about to give birth. The woman ends up giving birth to a boy and she ask the 3 men to protect and to care for her son, and ask them to be the babies “Godfathers”. The 3 men quickly go from running from the Law to finding the quickest way for a town in which they use a Bible to help guide their way. 2 of the men eventually die as they risk their own lives in order to save their Godson. John Wayne eventually makes it to the town of Jerusalem that’s located in Arizona with the Law right on his heels. Robert William Pedro is saved by this Godfathers and John Wayne’s only concern is to keep his promise to a dieing woman. This film is Truly a Great Western!!!
