We made to Van Nuys CA and back with no problems and we had a great time, well that is as much as you can have walking around a swap meet filled with old Mopar stuff. The biggest part of our hunt was to find a small peice of chrome window trim, but sadly we did not find it and I’m sure it’s going to be a very long hunt as we continue looking. However, the trip was not for nothing because as we started to walk around a whole list of items popped up into our little hot heads and we came home with…
A Front passenger side arm rest
A Sport Fury Trunk Emblem
A pair of B Body Horns
A bottle of Chrome cleaner —-(sold by a good pitchman)
A new Mopar shirt for Debbie (her first one)
And we ate BBQ sandwiches for lunch, Cupid chili dogs and Daguls Fries for dinner!
We did get over and take a look at all the Mopar’s parked on the grass and we were so happy as to check out a very nice Black 63 Golden Commando Sport Fury (ours is a 361Commando, smaller engine),,,it was a beaut! This Lady was built too and was used to race on occasions and the owner talked with Deb and I for a while and we all swapped “Sport Fury” stories. When you run into people that have what you have it’s kind of fun and you do make this odd connection with them. After talking we headed back to see if we had missed anything at the swap meet.
This car show took place near Canoga Park, and that’s were I grew up as a kid, so it was fun to see the old neighborhood. I’ll close this off with a couple shots of some very clean motors.
This is kind of the look we will be hoping to achive with our project, pretty much just a clean straight forward motor,,,well, I don’t think we’ll be putting on headers,,,,,,yet.
