Man,,,we must be like 18??

Man,,,we must be like,,,18?

This Saturday will be our 28th wedding anniversary! Yea, 28 years and things are going great! As I was thinking about how many days were left and what we we going to do I caught a short glimpse of “The Hope Chest”. Some of you have been here to our place and might have not even noticed it sitting in the downstairs bathroom, and some on the other hand have asked about it. As I like to think, there’s always a story behind something, and I can tell you this… There is a Story behind,,,”The Hope Chest”. Read the rest of this entry »

Our Poor Work Horse is Very Sick

Our Poor Work Horse is Very Sick

In 1993 we purchased out Dream truck, and the truck was going to pull our boat and haul the camper, but things changed. With in a short time we we were here in Baja and our beautiful truck was soon hauling utility trailers, dirt, rocks, blocks, cement bags…and the list goes on. Just the other day I was racing over to the hardware store and I noticed a drop in oil pressure,,,,not good, then the clatter clatter of the valves due to no oil. We limped her home and did a small bit of trouble shotting, but soon after a bit of work, fresh oil, and a new filter we hit the road again only to get the same results—a drop in pressure. Starting the wet set course for the retaining wall.

Aqua–whataaaa??? Yes, that is about what I thought of when I heard the word, Aquaponics, but actually, first I heard the word Hydroponics and the last time I had seen it done it did not go over too good and you had to be well versed in chemical balancing. I got my first bit of education in Aquaponics when a small group from Costa Mesa Calvary Chapel showed up to talk to us about building a system that would help supply food to the ladies and their children. I showed up thinking that some where along the line we’d be butting in to say “uhh,,,sorry, but we’re not interested”, but it did not take long for out wheels to start turning as we Read the rest of this entry »

It has been a very busy December and it’s hard to believe that tomorrow we’ll be leaving for the States to spend Christmas with our family. After I arrived home from a trip to Colorado in which I was helping my buddy Greg with some framing it was back to work in trying to get everything ready for the group that was coming for Christmas and the groups that will be arriving right after Christmas. We have one group from Bear Valley CA that has been coming down every year for the past 8-9 years helping and serving the women at Casa Esperanza, which is a home for battered and abused women and their children. At first they just came down to spread the Christmas cheer with presents for the children and to provide a special meal for them. Now however they roll up their selves and dig into what ever kind of work I can find for them. This year they spread a different kind of cheer and they even invited some friends from Desert View Baptist of Arizona to participate in some dirty, messy, and back breaking work, but it will prove to be a big blessing to the women at Casa Esperanza. This year the guys and girls from Bear Valley and Desert View spread the cheer in the way of 9 cubic meters of Concrete!! Read the rest of this entry »

My how time flies by and there is so much about the past memories that make it seem as if it was just yesterday. I still the morning that Debbie woke me up and and said “It’s Time!” and before we knew it we were flying out the door and on the way to the hospital. Unlike Nicki Cassie came into this world like a tornado and barely gave us time to catch up to her. Funny though how she actually started out to be very shy, but in many ways we could see that she was always up for excitement and at times the first to step forward and take on the Challenge. I’ll never forget the time all the neighborhood kids built a bike ramp to jump their bike on and it was such a Narly ramp that we took a spray can and wrote “Eat This” on it. So when it came time to some one to jump the ramp no one was ready to dare the danger that awaited them,,,,except for Cassie. I remember seeing her at on a drive way with her helmet on and sitting on her little pink bike complete with tassels and all. With not much time to react she was off and running cranking those peddles and headed for the ramp. She hit the ramp and Read the rest of this entry »

OK, yea, so I’m mixing a little of Thanks Giving in with my writings on Meth and you must be thinking that I’m gone a bit crazy,,,just hang in there and you’ll get it. Now,,,,For a long time Thanks Giving for me always meant a long trip to McCloud California to visit my Grand Parents and to play in the snow, ride snow mobiles, and yea, eat! I think my first trip must have been when I was around 8 or 9, and my trips would continue for a long time. I was there when my hair crew long and my Grandpa freaked out, Debbie sat at my Grandma’s table when she received her engagement ring, Nicki took her first steps in the kitchen, and one night my Dad handed me the reins and let me handle all the kids fighting in my Grandma’s living room. Such grand memories of that house and so often I wish I could return there and watch another generation warm it’s walls. Read the rest of this entry »

Dennis Hollenbeck, Matt Polhammer, and Norm Crawford.

Dennis Hollenbeck, Matt Polhammer, and Norm Crawford.

It was a kind of cold early morning sometime back in 1978, or could have even been in 77, but we three stood there saying good bye to our good friend Matt who was off to Japan for a year in the Forighn Student Exchange program and although we knew he was coming back, we knew we (Norm and I) where going to miss our Third Wheel, Fellow Moose, and just good old hanging out doing crazy stuff FRIEND!

I’m sure Norm and I wondered exactly how things would be with out Matt but we soon learned how to still have fun without him as I’m sure he learned to have fun without us, and we also learned that we’d establish new friends to have wild and crazy times with—Right Greg???

Now that was some 30+ years ago and most friends from those good old High School Days would just fall away and soon become just a distant memory. For us however it has been the complete opposite Read the rest of this entry »

We all see the commercials about PC vs. Mac and that poor old guy that nervously tries to compete with Mac who calmly helps him stumble to what ever endless point PC guy is trying to make. For a long time the commercials kind of bugged me as I was a true hearted PC guy. I’ve always been a PC guy and the first thing I did to my 486DX 33 Mhz computer with 8 megs of ram and a 850 mb Hard Drive was to take off the cover and see what’s inside. Shortly later my neighbor helped me install a bigger hard drive and then from there I never looked back. I proceed on my personal search for the PC that best suited my needs and being a big PC gamer I found the only way to do it was to build my own machines. I’d buy all the components needed and them assemble my PC gaming/work horse computer and I must say that some of my machines have simply been outstanding. Read the rest of this entry »
